Reprint Policy

For Authors

Electronic Posting: Authors of articles published or accepted for publication in The Monist may, for a period ending two years after the publication of each article, post or otherwise make publicly available the manuscript text of each article on their personal, departmental, or institutional website.  Beginning two years after the publication of each article, authors are permitted to post the published, typeset text (typically author proofs in pdf form) on their personal, departmental, or institutional website. All such postings or online publication should include the notice:

Electronic files of articles published or accepted for publication in The Monist may not be posted on other websites, including discussion boards, aggregator sites, or specific open-access repositories, without obtaining special permission in advance from the publisher. To inquire about such permission, please contact the managing editor.

Reprinting Articles: Authors of articles published or accepted for publication in The Monist are permitted to include those articles in a collected edition of their own writings that is to be published by another publisher, provided that the edition appears at least two years after the original date of publication in The Monist. For editions that will appear before two years have elapsed or that are not collected works of the author, permission must be obtained in advance from the publisher.

For Publishers:

To obtain or purchase permission to reprint an article originally published in The Monist, please contact the managing editor and specify the title and edition of the publication in which the reprint is to appear, the date of publication, the estimated print run, and the retail price.  For electronic publications, please specify the intended number of licenses or downloads to be made available, the intended market, the retail price, and the time at which the electronic publication will be available for purchase.
